About United States Citizen Diplomacy Initiative™

United States Citizen Diplomacy Initiative™ or USCDI is a U.S.-based people-to-people program that fosters mutual understanding and respect through cultural, educational, sports and economic exchanges between peoples of the United States and peoples in other nations.

What is Citizen Diplomacy?

Citizen Diplomacy is the concept that the individual has the right to help shape U.S. foreign relations "one handshake at a time." Citizen diplomats can be students, teachers, athletes, artists, business people, humanitarians, adventurers or tourists. They are motivated by a desire to engage with the rest of the world in a meaningful, mutually beneficial dialogue.

How does it work?

We love partnerships. We partner with national organizations. An organizational partnership is how we make this program work and being executed. KIF USA partners up with other like-minded U.S.-based national organizations that promote similar mission and implement international activities of citizen diplomacy. With our partner, we develop and produce mutually beneficial bilateral events held within the Unites States or in other nations. Our recent bilateral partnership include Sister Cities International.

What have we done?

Celebrity Diplomacy Initiative
In the past, KIF USA and KIF Japan collaborated to develop a bilateral cultural and educational event called United States-Japan Discovery Tour with Hollywood celebrities visiting throughout Japan. For that, we have impacted more than 3,000 youth in person and tens of millions of people worldwide through social networks in just 10 days.
